The BASS1200 is a low-profile amplified subwoofer. Low enough to easily fit below the seat of your car, this system offers you a quick and easy way to add a high-powered subwoofer system to your audio system. The integrated amplifier in the BASS1200 features a low pass crossover and a subsonic filter, as well as a control for adjusting the input sensitivity from 0.2V to 6V. Both high level (speaker level) and low level (RCA type) inputs are present, making this a universal solution for use with any head unit or other input source. For further flexibility in the use of a subwoofer, a variable bass boost control has been included. You can control the subwoofer level with the remote level control module.  Exceeded my expectations July 13, 2010

Like others have said this isn't the stereo that you will hear coming from a mile away. At this size I didn't expect much. I was sick of givin up soo much of my trunk though and wanted to reclaim some space. I got one of these. In my Cavalier the install was super easy. I did cheat and use the high level inputs for now. I have an after market JVC head unit but it's really hard to get to the back.
I took a few minutes to adjust the settings and then went for a drive as I am not one of the jerks who annoys my neighbors. The sounds is definatly decent. Nothing was rattling but it made my music sound like it was supposed to. I have been using it now for about a month and I have no complaints. I will probably be ordering one for my scooter to put in the topcase.

The unit arrived quickly but was defective so I returned it just as quickly as it arrived. It looks very cheap and there isn't any room for the speaker to breathe so bass response would be pretty poor. Another problem is it is to large to fit under most seats but should fit under a truck bench. Wish I could have heard it but I don't think it would sound half as good as the sony unit i put in. I hope this review helps.

I know it has only been a week since I have installed the sub, but I am glad to say I am very happy with it. I own a 2001 Subaru Forester, and for some reason the bass is just never present. I previously had two 10" Kicker C10 subs in a box in my trunk. I needed more trunk space, so I sold those and picked up this lil guy. It kicks more than the 2 Kickers in the box did! I mounted it right under the driver seat.
If you are looking to round out your sound and keep trunk space, this is the sub for you. I have read the reviews of other people's dying on them after a few months, so I will keep you posted. As of now, it plays beautiful, hitting more notes than a box did and I can actually feel the bass.
Like other reviews said, it won't rattle the car next to you. I was looking for that when I was 16 but now I am 20 and all I need is the hear all the notes when a song plays, and feel some kick when I crank it.
Definitely recommend this subwoofer.

[This is cross-posted from the Boss Audio Bass1500 product. I mistakenly (ignorantly?) ordered the 1200 but it was evidently either out-of-stock or, more logically, discountinued.]
Just had my local sound shop install the Boss Bass1500 behind the passenger seat of my '99 Miata. They'd put in an Alpine deck and amp powering Boston Acoustics separates, 6.5" mid-bass and 1" soft-dome tweeter, which sounded terrific but lacked low-end grunt. The Boss unit was the perfect solution -- didn't take up very much room in what is a tiny car, and while it won't rattle your fillings the bass fill is just what I was searching for. Two caveats: Reviews for the previous model, the Bass1200, show that quite a few go bad. That is likely attributable to a) incorrect or improper installation -- most likely a power source other than straight from the battery or poor grounding -- and/or b) people pushing the unit too far, so that the amp clips and dies. Run juice straight from the battery and don't push the output so hard, and this heavy, solid-feeling unit should last quite some time. Better yet, if you want even more bass and have room under your seats but don't want a big sub box in your cabin (SUVs) or trunk, buy two, one under each seat, and you'll be slammin'! All in all, an excellent solution to what I needed.
