Network booster September 3, 2010 Tamra Makes my network robust. Sharing and loading my bunch of drives hasn't been easier. Because there is authorized security access there is nothing to worry about confidentiality.
Iconnect, be-all August 31, 2010 Master Mind Foremost, it is a breeze to set up. Pretty much does everything like a wizard. It is the be-all to store and share for a large network.
Handy little remote storage unit for home. August 28, 2010 elcman (Ogden, UT United States) I picked this up on a recommendation from a friend. I had a few shared folders on my network that shared data through my house and when he pointed me here, I had to try it. My use of it might be unusual, but it is perfectly suited for what I've been doing.
Mainly, I use it to store movies and TV shows, then stream it to my computer to play them. If I want to bring some shows or music on the road with me, I have a little copy job thing that copies over the files that I gathered to either a hard drive, or if I'm on the same network, to the laptop's shared folders. This whole process is seamless right now and I'm really excited to have a solution for it.
Remote access is also easy-peasy, as long as you've set up your network correctly. You can either use the on device system or you can just port forward it yourself to the device. All of the files are accessible through the web interface. It makes it easy to access files when you're on the road. I've downloaded songs from work a few times now and it works flawlessly.
I had some strangeness with one of my hard drives not showing up properly or powering down, but I think the hard drive is suspect. It's done similar things on my PC. I dinged reliability a bit for that, but I'm still not sure. Besides that, I'm really enjoying this little device!
Works great. August 27, 2010 Av8r Finally able to move my printer and external HDD's off my desk. I had an issue with mapping my NTFS formatted drives but with the help of Iomega's support, the problem was an easy fix. One thing I would like to see is more manufacturers making smaller plugs or power supplies. Bricks like these take up 2 spaces on my power strip. This thing works great and it's fast too.
Setup was really easy August 27, 2010 Shane Moss (Layton, UT USA) Setup was really easy. Just took it out of the box and plugged it into my wireless router. Windows 7 found it on the network and then sent me to a config page when I tried to access it. After 3 easy steps basic setup was done and I was able to access the storage devices on it. I did not use the software provided with the iConnect. Not sure how that affects performance, if at all. I used both a USB Thumb drive and my USB external HD. It recognized both devices quickly. Access to the USB hard drive was a little slow while the drive was being scanned for multimedia files. It was real easy to get up and running and seems to get the job done. Didn't really mess with connecting via wireless... just had it plugged straight in to my wireless router.
