Great product, bulkier than it could be April 26, 2010 C. P. Waasdorp Great product with good sound (coming from a profession sound engineer of 10 years) and the volume control proves useful as well. It's light weight and very thin, but still somewhat larger than it could be, I suppose that's because of the batteries. I'd still buy it again though.
Hiss and distortions April 4, 2010 lew (Connecticut, USA) Creates high level of hiss. Nonlinear distortion noticeable when I want to provide strong signal to improve signal/hiss ratio.
Maybe good if you want to listen "ooompa, ooompa" music, but no good for clasical
Help for aging hearing February 5, 2010 Philip K. Isaac (Manitoba, Canada.) As one ages our eyesight begins to fail and we have no difficulty obtaining prescription lenses to correct our vision; hearing follows the same path, but correction isn't so easy, however, the Koss equalizer restores the sound in my earphones so that I am hearing music as I haven't heard it in years.
Does the job. December 23, 2009 Candace Kaye (PA) I'm a court stenographer and work in many different environments, offices, court rooms, conference rooms, and transcribe many different voices. I like this product because if someone speaks low or an air conditioner is blowing in the background or the acoustics in the room are a problem, when transcribing I can improve the sound by adjusting the band equalizer to fit the situation. It is a great aid in those frustrating moments where you just can't hear something perfectly and instead of playing the tape over and over in an effort to understand what was said, you just slide the bass, mid or treble to whatever level you need to make the sound more clear. I think it is a great little product, and I only gave it four stars instead of five because it doesn't perform miracles, nor should you expect it to at this great price, but it certainly does help.
Weak quality; not as good as the previous version November 15, 2009 James Britt I have the the older Koss EQ30 portable equalizer to help clean up the sound of my TV when run via headphones. It's pretty good, but over time has gotten some loose wires, and occasionally crackles. I would love a replacement but, sadly, that item is no longer available.
The new version, the EQ50, is a poor substitute. It relies too much on the strength of the source signal, and does not do a very good job. It works OK on some equipment, but still not as good as the earlier version. Plus, the EQ30 was more compact and easier to clip onto a short pocket. Why in the world Koss decided to discontinue a better product is baffling.
Probably best to keep looking.
