5 out of 5 stars Great all-in-one for the money   September 5, 2010
Debgram (Ohio)
So far I like the print quality and speed. Took a little while to get used to the noise as the printer was in idle mode. I kept thinking it was going to print something on it's own. I can't really comment on the ink because I'm not a everyday printer so for my usage I think it's okay not much different from my HP. Scans are pretty good too. I had a little bit of a hard time getting the network to work, it would show on the printer that the network noticed it but through my computer it didn't.

5 out of 5 stars Epson Photo Printing Over the Years   August 30, 2010
Bernard Sirelson (Los Angeles)
So far so good. It's been about 12 years since the first Epson printer I got. I don't remember the model of that one, but it changed my life- I decided to become a digital artist when I saw the quality I could get for the pittance I had spent on that old printer.

This current printer, the Epson Artisan 710 "all-in-one", doesn't disappoint in the least. The output quality is better than ever, and the fact that I can finally get photo quality output combined with a scanner (and copier, of course) is just wonderful. I especially like the automated CD tray for printing on blank CDs. The older style in the 300 and 380 series was annoying at best.

I've had HP and Canon "photo" printers, but they always left a lot to be desired in their output quality.

The main complaint with this printer is of course the cost of new ink cartridges. Nothing new here though. And, like all of the Epsons I've had this one seems like it will fall apart if I stare at it too hard. But the fact is, it doesn't fall apart. It's constructed of light and cheap materials, but everything seems to be perfectly machined and aligned.

Excepting these two concerns, I say 5 stars across the board.

5 out of 5 stars great printer   August 24, 2010
marschin (Lincoln, NE United States)
The selling point for me is that it prints on CDs. So far everything is working great and my prints are sharp. Love it. The only difference between this and the 810 is the fax option ... if you don't need it, save yourself some money and get the 710.

4 out of 5 stars Epson Artisan 710   August 20, 2010

Easy to use and the scanner has been great for work I've been doing. I am concerned about the cost of ink cartridges but since I don't do a great deal of printing it may not be an issue.

2 out of 5 stars At best, OK   August 18, 2010

Prompted to make this review at this point because of the following:
Cons
1) When it is out of ink it will not let you do anything, even Scan.
2) When it is out of any color ink it won't let you print black & white.
2) Consumes a lot of expensive ink.
3) While it does double-sided printing the duplexing mechanism for it has to be removed to manually run paper through - for thick paper.
4) Controls are confusing.

Pros
1) Built in CD/DVD printing tray.
2) Cartridges are easy to get to...which you learn by needing to replace them often.
3) Prints via Wi-Fi...getting setup is a chore.
